R.I.P Cassie

I had a post ready to go tonight, but things changed. I lost my dog of 13 years — my baby Cassie. She has been a huge part of my family in so many ways — teaching me responsibility, love and many many other things.

Not only was she my companion…my childhood friend, but she was also like Lola’s mentor.

Cassie wasn’t quite socialized. Living in Orange County, she had a big backyard and didn’t have to mingle with other dog friends at the park. Sad to say but she actually hated EVERY dog. Until she met Lola. She treated Lola like a daughter and guided her — teaching her how to toughen up, to hold her own, and even how to bark (which I still won’t forgive here for!). The bond they had melts my heart.

She was the boss. She was a loving and caring dog. A family dog. She had the biggest heart.

Cassie — I will miss you forever, you hold a close place in my heart and will never be forgotten.

    Hi Laura,

I lost my chocolate lab, Sage, in July…she was 13 also. I got her when she was just 6 weeks old…she was my first baby and I loved her so deeply. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about her…miss her…oftentimes I think I hear her in the house…her tags jingling…her tail hitting the floor as she dreams…I am convinced that she is still here, watching over us. I’m sure Cassie is with you too. Here’s to our BFFs. xo

I am so sorry to hear about Sage. I know how you feel…thank you for the sweet comment. <3

I hope you are feeling better. We had to put our baby down about 3 weeks ago. It was so hard! I was so tired of crying but couldn’t help it. Finally doing better but will always miss her. Animals are such great companions.

Miss you Cass! You were the best dog ever! I’ll never forget our drunken snuggle sessions on your living room floor. Or when you would drink unnecessary amounts of pool water while we were swimming.

Ah really sorry to hear that x People often think its stupid to be so close to an animal, but until you lose one or even have one for that matter you can never understand the true love for one.

    She looked so sweet!

Laura, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I understand the pain you feel, especially how you heart aches for Lola. I lost a very special animal friend, a cat named Cow, a few years ago. (It’s his paw prints that are tattooed inside my wrists.) And while my own pain was immeasurable, I felt even worse for my other cat, who was so deeply bonded with Cow. They snuggled all day and loved each other like brothers.

Our animal friends hold a very special place in our hearts, and it’s impossible to ever fill the hole left by them. I really feel that it’s a huge injustice that our animals don’t live as long as us…

Alright, I’m tearing up. I am so, so sorry. There are no words to ease your pain. It will just take time.

So sorry to hear about your pooch, Laura. Losing furry family members can be just as difficult as losing human ones. Sounds like you have many great memories (and photos) of Cassie to give some support.

I’m so sorry for your loss, Laura. Pets are definitely an extension of our family who teach us so much and give us so much love that it’s always difficult to see them go. Keep your head up and know that Cassie lives on through you, your family, and Lola.
    xoxo, Maria
