Pretty sure I am now notorious for my frequent “Irish goodbyes” to New York City. I live my life as it comes, and am no longer accustomed to planning ahead. That lifestyle just doesn’t tend to work out well for me. Don’t get me wrong, I am somewhat organized (aside from my closet 95% of the time), and I actually used to be a major planner, so I kind of get it…but, I have just learned that trying to predict the future is foolish, and whenever I do make solid plans they almost always fall through. So, I willingly gave up.

Last week I happened to be offered an opportunity to see my family in Vermont last minute for a couple of days. No brainer, count me in. Especially considering the fact that seeing my sassy 91 year old grandmother was a part of the package. That woman is the wittiest, toughest, most clever, loving and sarcastic little lady I know. She can make me cry and crack up hysterically at the same time. A true role model, and the epitome of a strong woman. She is the kind of woman I hope to grow up and become one day.

Headed back to the city tomorrow after my brisk but beautiful runaway. Jumping head first into a pretty big freelance project, so I feel fortunate to have had the past few days to clear my mind and get focused. Now it is time to kick a little ass and make some moves!

*head to toe: Zara man hat, Cult of Individuality chambray jacket, Vince Camuto sweater (similar style), Raven + Lily Yami tote (best ever, btw), Citizens of Humanity biker jeans, Jeffrey Campbell sandals

You’re so right, Laura! Organization has its place, but being too rigid can cause people to miss out on the blessing that come from spontaneity. Your pictures in Vermont remind me of McGaheysville, VA. Beautiful scenery & peaceful environment :)

I feel the same way, always running away from NYC at the last minute. But that’s life, things come your way & you gotta live it to the fullest! Can’t wait to hear about your new project. Vermont looks magical.
