On The Road Again

So excited to be heading off on my second road trip adventure with two of my favorite little darlings, Grant and Olivia. We had SO much fun the first time around, winding our way up the West Coast…reflecting, exploring, and getting creative through fashion and photography. On this trip, we will be starting off in Austin for SXSW, heading down to New Orleans, and then making our way up to Nashville! Figured I’d share a few of the things I will be taking with me on our adventure…my travel essentials, so to speak.

Grant immediately lectured me about not overpacking, since last time I went way overboard with like seven bags. Proud to say I managed to fit everything into my trusty DVF suitcase, PLV caryall, and mayyyybe another tote or two (shh, don’t tell). Lately I am obsessed with writing everything down, hence the double journals. No, I did not bring the whiskey, but I did drink it while packing. Alcohol tends to make the whole process much more enjoyable.

I have been super minimal with my “beauty routine” lately…like, as in blush and lipgloss only. This sea salt spray is super awesome and cheap – you can even find it at Duane Reade! HOOKED on my Petal Perfume Oil, and the roll-on applicator makes it perfect for travel. The Stila eyeshadow palette will be good if I want to kick things up a notch at night, and the rest are pretty much givens!

SXSW…festival vibes. You know what I’m talkin’ about. This Love Nail Tree tee is pretty much the story of my life on a shirt, so I had to bring with. Vintage cutoffs are always a must. And my new BARE tote is so perfect for carrying everything I need (literally everything). It’s one of a kind, reversible, and made from a burlap coffee sack, what’s not to love?!

So I did the January resolution thing, and joined DavidBartonGym. Have been going pretty regularly and am finally feeling good and bikini-ready for the trip (our Austin house has a POOL!). I will try and keep up with some sort of regimen while traveling, especially since most of the time will be spent sitting in a car eating candy and chips. Threw in my Nike kicks and this fun sweatshirt from Calico in case I manage to get in a run or two…

Back to that pool I mentioned…here is my swimmers ensemble – complete with a simple American Apparel bikini (I love their high waisted, retro bottoms), bold scarf by Jonathan Adler, chic straw hat by my oh so talented roommate, Gigi Burris, and some oversized sunglasses.

This one’s for the road. iPad, cell phone, and headphones for work / entertainment purposes. This dumb tee referencing Mean Girls, and the most comfortable Rachel Pally pants on the planet.

Well, there you have it — a few of the things I will be bringing with me on my latest adventure! There’s more where that came from, though, so stay tuned for plenty of Instagrams and outfit posts to come!

Great post! Love seeing what you packed! And very impressed that you basically managed with a carry on. I guess summery clothes don’t take up that much room. Enjoy!
