I may appear to be living it up in the City of Lights (not denying this to be true), but I also spend a whole lot of time at home, in my cozy apartment, working the days and nights away.
It has been almost three years since I left the world of full-time work in fashion marketing, and decided to do independent consulting. My little practice, which I was so unsure about taking a leap of faith to kick-off at the time, has actually grown into a small agency of sorts! Perhaps UNRACKED Marketing could be more accurately described as a collective of creative people and awesome freelancers that I have had the pleasure of meeting and partnering with, all over the world.
These days I really couldn’t be happier about the scary reroute I chose to take. And, yes, some of you who know me well enough to have seen me screaming and crying at my computer screen are probably laughing right now. The hustle is real. But at the end of the day there is something very rewarding about the process of building a career based on what you are passionate about – whatever that might be and however many hours, or even years, it might take. If I am going to spend the majority of my time “at work” in order to get by, just like everyone else does, I personally find it vital to focus my efforts on something I can pour whole heart and soul into. And to surround myself, at least professionally, by people who share this notion.
It may be a bit of a roller coaster with plenty of unexpected twists and turns. But a lot of the time I get to enjoy the ride while sitting on my couch in a bra and cashmere shorts. And I think that’s pretty cool.
(side note: I have been back in Paris for almost two months now, and in my own apartment for the first time in a while. Decorating has been so much fun and having a comfortable living space makes all the difference. I have found some really cute home accessories on ShopBop, among other great sites and stores — full “reveal” coming soon! Just found out they are having an awesome sale at the moment, though, so wanted to spread the word. Definitely worth a look!)
